CASEWA (Clean And Safe Eating and Drinking Water) is a initiative in my "mind" to improve clean and safe eating and drinking through awareness in India. This blog is the first step towards this realization.

In this blog I hope to cover what I achieve or do not achieve. My Goals are simple,

"To make eating safer to common people"

I remember how I enjoyed my street side "Chinese food" or "Pani poori's" or  "bull's eye". I am no more comfortable eating on the streets. I hope I can change that.

Today in India millions in the country consume food items offered by street food vendors, we do not often stop to think that the meal someone is eating on the street shops or places may be their last  It is not a pleasant thought and it is easier to dismiss the idea as something that happens to either people in far-off places. Most of food borne illnesses are mild and would not slow down a healthy adult, but 20% of food borne illnesses are severe enough to require hospitalization. On top of that, 2 to 3%of these acute illnesses develop life-long complications.

In India people who contract food borne illnesses are the only parties that suffer and the vendors and place of eating is never questioned. Government has put in place FSSAI and how much
in this context FSSAI will understand consumer’s expectations from street vendors & bringing street food vending into the national mainstream & capacity building of street food vendors is to be seen.

I hope I can contribute in a small way towards bringing street food vending a safer place to eat!.
